Christopher Julian Santos

......He was born in 1975. He grew up near to Washington DC. At the age of 8, he started playing the alto saxophone. He studied both classical and jazz styles in school. He studied music, primarily jazz, and physics at both Amherst College and Dartmouth College in the United States.

......At the age of 21, he changed to tenor saxophone. The following year, he acquired a soprano saxophone, which became his primary instrument.

......During the last five years, he has traveled extensively to explore the diverse sounds of our planet. He studied flamenco in Granada, Spain, Middle-Eastern music in Egypt and Israel, and Ragas in India.

......He also explored music in Morocco, Portugal, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Croatia, Romania, Greece, and China. The soprano saxophone accompanied him throughout his journeys.

......He made his first journey to India, at the age of 25, with his two elder brothers. The three of them explored sound together in Varanasi, the holy of city of India. While there, he began to explore yoga and meditation. Both have become an essential part of his life.

......In the spring of 2003, he returned to India, to further explore meditation and sound. While in Varanasi, he began to study the bansuri (the Indian bamboo flute).

......In Dharamshala, the home of the Dalai Lama, he met Raul Saldana and Jaume Cata, who invite him to Barcelona, Spain to form the group Terrae Ignota Gharana. After three months of communal living and concerts in Catalunya, and the recording of two compact discs of world music, he accompanied the group to Macua, China for the Fringe Festival.

......After this record, he went to Macau, China, to perform in the Fringe Festival.
