RICARDO PASSOS

........He studied classic guitar and piano in the School Öscar da Silva in Matosiños (Porto), flamenco guitar in Granada, traditional Turkish music in Istanbul with the saz teacher Cem Yildiz, rek and darbouka in Cairo with the teacher Hassan Youssef, dumbek and def in Iraq, pakawaj and Dhrupad singing in Benares (North of India) with Pandit Sri Kant Mishra.

........He has given concerts in Portugal, Spain, Turkey, Iraq and Mexico where he also made voice and percussion workshops.

........He explores in depth the improvisation and the spontaneous musical creation mixing with oriental elements (modal system), and the western tonal system.

........He is a part of the group Terra Ignota, Ensemble of oriental Music of Porto (classic traditional Arab and Turkish music), Alahe (oriental music with dance) and Khairkan, at present he continues his studies in India.
